About Us

SAVINGS, SELECTION, and FAMILY FUN

Children always feel welcome at the Selma Auto Mall where family values truly are #1. Amusements for the kids feature a Bounce House, Life Size Disney-like Theme Characters and "The Sunshine Express", an 80 passenger 1880's era half-scale Steam Locomotive.

The train chugs slowly around the 20-acre grounds complete with 2 tunnels, four koi ponds and a 20' waterfall. Beyond the 9 New Vehicle dealerships there is a Holiday Inn, The Spike N Rail Steakhouse and The Swan Court Convention Center. The landscaping throughout the grounds are meticulous and The Spike N Rail Restaurant is a replica of a giant windmill.

The unique atmosphere created by the koi ponds, live swans, waterfalls, palm trees and the neighboring hotel and restaurant make this State-of-th-Art facility warm, relaxing and truly customer friendly. This complex has truly become a landmark for travelers along Highway 99 in Central California.

In planning of the Selma Auto Mall in the early 1990's, Dwight Nelson who is a life-long Selma resident and owner of his family's 75 year-old construction company, Lewis Nelson and Sons Inc., wanted to combine his two passions...building and selling vehicles. "In a community like this you have to do business differently. We looked at other car dealerships and what other people had done and we decided to do something we had never seen anyone else do."

All of this happened after Nelson got into the car business kind of indirectly by purchasing an interest with a partner to start Liberty Chevrolet in 1989. The original idea was to purchase an interest in the Chevrolet store to spend less on trucks for his construction company. "The partner backed out a month before we were ready to open the store and Chevrolet talked me into going through with it."

In 1994 the first building at the Selma Auto Mall, Selma Honda was completed and open for business. In 1995 Liberty Chevrolet was moved to its current location in the Selma Auto Mall and Selma Mazda was added. Nelson built a scale model of what he envisioned for the future of the Selma Auto Mall and traveled to Los Angeles showing his idea to several vehicle manufacturers. He landed Nissan, Hyundai and Suzuki.

One of the Zone Managers from Kia Motors of America was driving on Highway 99, seeing the Selma Auto Mall decided to stop in. He looked around and asked if he wanted a Kia franchise? Selma Daewoo and Selma Mitsubishi lines were added and most recently Fresno Isuzu was brought into the family. Even more recently moving from Clovis, CA to The Selma Auto Mall.

The various buildings of the Selma Auto Mall's showrooms came naturally for Nelson. All the store fronts are walled with windows giving customers an open air feel while still enjoying the comfort of air-conditioning during the 100-degree days of the Central Valley summer. The various Parts and Service departments throughout the Selma Auto Mall feature comfortable customer lounges with today's newspapers, current magazines and always a fresh cup of coffee.

The Selma Auto Mall and its Theme-Park atmosphere is nice but the main asset the Selma Auto Mall has in Nelson's opinion is "to be blessed with its 280 caring employees" most of which he knows by first name. Pat Pisciotta, one of the General Managers said, "Because our owner believes in family values it is a lot more pleasant place to work and for our customers to do business."

Salespeople at all the dealerships are trained not to "pressure" shoppers into making snap decisions and to be totally customer oriented. And all together, the result is, Sales are Booming! Selma Auto Mall continues to break yearly sales records!
